Happening this afternoon at All Star Comics Melbourne:

Milk Shadow Books, Squishface Studio, NonCanonical Comic Podcast and All Star Comics present the YOU STINK AND I DON’T - VOLUME 1 AND 2 LAUNCH.

For 20 years Ben ‘Hutcho’ Hutchings has been creating one of Australia's best funnybook comic series, You Stink and i Don't. From the Woden Bus Interchange to the beautiful streets of Brunswick, and over 10 issues (plus lots of other mini comics collected here!), Hutcho has been smashing the piss out of all conventions such as growing up, other comics, modern medicine, pop music, sport, organised religion, and other unimportant things.

From 4 – 5pm there will also be a Q & A with Hutcho by the crème of comics podcasting, the fellas from NonCanonical!

Oz Comic Con Melbourne 2013

After last years debacle of too many people in too little space this years Oz Comic Con in Melbourne was transported to the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton Gardens. I managed to snap a few pics from artist alley before my camera died. Are people getting sick of my holiday snaps? Seemed like a lot of mugging this year.

Picked up a few gems from the locals and did a little bargain bin diving.

I'm a sucker for cheap Mandrake comics

New Zealand editions of Flash Gordon from Feature Productions don't pop up too often. I'm hoping to complete a book on the reprint era of New Zealand comics by September.

This particular issue of the Wally Wood published Heroes INC featuring Cannon seems to turn up often at cons in recent years. A warehouse find of 70,000 uncirculated copies probably accounts for some of them. I know a similar story about an Australian equivalent to that find, I'll have to write it up one of these days.

Places To Put Your Money

Chromacon, the upcoming New Zealand Illustration and Comic Art Festival are five days out from the end of their crowdfunding campaign on Pledgeme. As of this writing they are about $200 short of their target.

Ben Hutchings is primarily known as a musician but he does have a sideline making comics. Ben's publisher Milk Shadow Books have a Hutchings sale on at the MSB store.

A fine cover by Hutchings' band Tootleg Boy of Limahl's sublime classic The Never Ending Story. One time I listened to this for two hours straight and came out a better man for it.

Ive Sorocuk's latest mini comic Everybody Comics Face is available to order online.

Bathwater Books have two recent comics by Scarlette Baccini.
